Acomb Trash Screen
The Red Burn runs through the village of Acomb in Northumberland. Along one particular stretch the Burn runs in a culvert beneath a main road and there is a risk of flooding if it becomes blocked. We designed wing wall thrust block extensions clad in stone masonry for two upstream trash screens maintained by the Environment Agency who were the client. We also carried out topographic survey of the site, structural design of a new tree catcher with general arrangement drawings, and detailed construction drawings for a new formalised access route to the trash screens for clearance and maintenance.
