Acomb Culvert

There are a number of private properties in Acomb, Northumberland where the Red Burn runs beneath gardens in a culvert. We carried out a visual survey of part of the culvert which was collapsing in order to establish a remediation strategy. We then recommended an in-situ concrete replacement of the critical wall and floor sections of the channel with pre-cast concrete sections to form the lid. We produced general arrangement drawings, a concrete specification and steel reinforcement details with associated bar bending schedules. The works required over-pumping of the Burn during installation.
