Lunckefjell Mine

Conveyor Bridge design checks
Lunckefjell mine can be found on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard between Norway and the North Pole. It is one of the world’s most northern inhabited regions.

In 2014 Joy Global sought our support in checking the design of the conveyor at the mine. The steel truss based conveyor structure is very impressive; standing at over 34 metres tall and has a lenth of 60m. It discharges coal to two discrete stockpiles. Our design check was carried out in a thorough and independent manner and ensured the integrity of the structure.
