Loch Buidhe

Loch Buidhe substation, located near Bonar Bridge, is part of the Dounreay Beauly line upgrade, specifically designed to increase the level of renewable energy sources contributing to the national grid. It is a 275/132kV substation currently under construction with the newest generation of gas insulated switchgears and Super Grid Transformers.


Did you know? The design for Loch Buidhe underwent significant modification to accommodate the amount of peat located on the site, in order to preserve the local ecology.
